Question

hi all
looking at buying some new front discs and pads for my 98 typer r 4. aparantly there are 2 different sizes for that year. can anyone shed any light on the subject. i am looking at buying standard discs the same standard type r discs that are on now. been told that they are either 180mm or 190mm. does anyone know.

There's only one size of front brake on the STi4 Type R.

Lol, whoever told you that was talking out their *rse, they're nowhere near (assuming you're quoting correctly).

The STi4 Type R uses the same four pot calipers that subsequently became standard on the UK/European market turbocharged Impreza from MY99 onwards. The discs are 294mm diameter.

If all you want is OE spec discs and pads, bearing in mind many UK cars use the same parts, you can get them at any Subaru dealer, although it's worth spending a little extra on proper pads.
