.. re installing a 550 injector as it was leaking under load (again) and tried different washer/adapter combinations to make it fit better but it is STILL leaking -too badly to risk driving it
just to top that; upon removing it for the third time it appears the thread has gone in the injector cap 'clamp' on the driver side nearest the bumper (looking at the engine bay fron the front)
so Im well f00ked
anyone able to help tomorrow???? (ie:know exqctly what they are doing??)
if not: do scoobyclinic guys come on here at the weekend at all??
Maybe they could fit me in on monday?? Anyone have their contact details (but not office number)?
Pavlo: gonna need a couple of replacement adaptors (phase2) and 'bolts' (allen key ends)
Scoty: It Might possbily be the injector that is at fault with regard to the continual leaking (see pic)
once fitted BEFORE the thread was knackered- it was leaking at the point indicated. Al Pavlo adapters were sited correctly and no debris or damage to O Rings..
can u send me ONE of the above by special delivery ASAP???
I will send the other one back IF it IS faulty.
If not: I will send the other one back to you anyway once its been checked.. please??

Right then.
Problem seems to be one of injectors.
When I supplied the injectors they were modified for phase 2 fitment (all I did initially) by removing a slither of material from the purple plastic opposite the connector.
So here is what they look like fitted if the injectors are not modified. You will notice how only 1 fixing screw hole can be aligned.
It's caused by a slight mismatch between injector and retainer, show below.
So the solution is to remove material getting in the way.
When it's done, you should see how the injector fitted properly into the retainer, and he centre of the injector should like directly between the 2 holes.
When the mods have been done, you should be able to line the retainer up with the fuel rail without misaligned holes. This will eliminate any side forces on the injector, and eliminate the cross threading that would be likely with the unmodded injector.
This should only affect people with phase 2 rails, and the problem is even more accute with 850s as there is not gap between the fuel rail and the retainer.
ANY QUESTIONS? MAIL ME ASAP!
Paul

Big up to the man like Pavlo!!!! ...
right.
where to start?!
!!A HUGE thank you to Pavlo!!
..He agreed over to visit me at home!!! (260mile round trip for him) where it was found that the injector itself was faulty..
(it appears there would be no way to tell normally, I spent a lot of time fitting and refitting the bugger yesterday.last night trying to see if I could get a better/perfect seal... to no avail..
- Pavlo had brought a spare fuel rail with him to check fitment of the injector and adapter, and then put some pressure thru it with a foot pump and a bowl of water and lo and behold that 550 injector itself was responsible!
then he refitted the 'new' injector he had bought along and all is now well!!
Thanks to the fantatic 'customer support' (and considerable experience with injectors) Pavlo saved me a lot of stress and unnessesary time off work to fix it...
I am extremely grateful mate! thanks again!
the power of SN strikes again..

Top.
To clarify the leak was out through the plastic cap where it meets the metal of the body of the injector. Anyone with leaking injectors should take note and contact your supplier. This is probably issue with over zealous removed from the donor car where it has been sitting nicely for some years without abuse from mole grips and the like!
