To be on the safe side you want a knock link and bosch sensor (shouldnt cost you more than 130 quid in total) but you can use UK fuel (super unleaded or optimax) and id strongly advise using octane booster also as JDM cars are designed to run on 100 ron fuel.
Hope that helps

Jeez fella, surely you've been around here long enough to know the answer to this one?
No, they're not guaranteed to be okay, unless remapped specifically for our fuel or run on Opti/Super + the correct amount of a good octane booster. Either way, a KnockLink is strongly recommended.

Ok, not the answer I particularly wanted, but the answer I was expecting anyways
Still, bit of piddling round with ye olde octane booster gotta be a worthwhile sacrifice for a Jap STi

What is involved in a 'remap', and how much does it cost?
Is there anyone on the south coast who can do it?
My car has no history, so how would I find out if it has already been done?
Cheers

A question to all you UK owners re: the Jap spec cars.
Don't you have access to racing fuels in the Uk. I am able to get Shell and BP 102.6 in drums admittedly, quite easily here in SA and there is no substitute for the correct Octane.

Yes, we can get it. However, as even the cheaper racing fuels are around £2 per litre, compared with good pump fuels at around £0.82 to £0.87, it's not an affordable option for the majority of people.

Hmm can you imagine explaining that one to customs officials. No Sir I promise it's only soda pop in those there drums!
Better still you guys ship out your cars on mass and I will organise a weekend of unlimited track time with race fuel at Phakisa International raceway!

zhastaph - don't you live on a remote island somewhere near me?
If so, then I'm sure you already know that getting any fuel much better than supermarket yuck is a PITA There's super at a couple of places (if you can afford it ) but no optimax.
(I'm working on an Andy.F style witches brew for after Christmas )
PS have a look here if you're who I think you are...
