CEL-After new clutch fitted-Help
#1
Car is MY93 WRX, my mate fitted a new clutch, I went for a drive all seemed fine, after I put my foot down in third, the car accelerated then missed-No boost. Then the CEL come and stayed on, and has since stayed on ever since, with no boost at all
How do I check the ecu fault? I've checked all the pipes, as the I first indicted may be the problem, every garage I've spoken to does not have the Subaru gear to chk the code, of course Subaru Uk won't touch the car due to it being an import. There is no smoke from the car and it has plenty of oil and water, it has a HKS electronic boost controller which I've also turned off.
I'm worried as I'm not sure what to do next; I've heard there a wire under the dash you need to ground to chk the engine code?
If the garage I'm taking it to can find an obvious fault will the CEL go, or do I need to reset the ecu.
Is it worth resetting the ECU as my mate had to re-connect the speedo electronics, and he may have upset something else. Sorry I also need a reminder on how to reset the ECU, shall I start here first.
Thanks for any pointers on the above.
Cheers

Your first port of call is to find out what the error is. Click here and follow the instructions, then post your findings...

Thanks, my mate has just driven the car to the garage, and has told me the car is running fine and is boosting correctly, which is odd.
I'm going to have the ecu reset and go from there.

Its probably a MAF or o2 sensor fault, which the ECU has learned to deal with. When they did the clutch, the battery disconnect will erase the ECU leaning, thus the fault is unmasked and your CEL light has come on.
