Can anyone who has had the Tek3 done on a bugeye tell me how much difference it made to their car. pros & cons if any, and recommendations where I should go to get it done.(I'm in Leeds)

I have a MY01 bugeye WRX with decat up & downpipes at the moment(thanks again DW), also was wondering if I would need to upgrade my fuel pump.

Thanks in advance

Phil

Phil I went from PPP and decat to TEK3 so was somewhat sceptical it would make much difference.

How wrong could I be? It made loads of difference. The car is nowhere near as smooth but it goes very well and pulls hard right to the redline.

I had my car mapped by Bob Rawle. Couldn't recommend his work highly enough.

Doh!

I didn't need a new fuel pump as retained standard Turbo etc. Would have had to change pump if I had tubular headers, larger turbo etc etc.

thanks Nathan, I've seen comments on Bobs mapping abilities before and its all good from what I've read.

Where in the UK is he based ?

I bet its miles away from me, as all good tuners/garages seem to be.

is he a one man band setup on contract to someone or does he have his own place/garage etc ?

sorry Bob if your reading this, But I've only just started looking into it

cheers

Phil

Phil, my TEK3 remap was done as part off a groupbuy with www.brdevelopments.com, Bob maps from his house in swindon or from Brankos in richmond, the results are very good, car pulls like a train its a real eye opener 2 if you end up driving as i did, best to finish all your mods you plan first, & if you can be bothered arrange a groupbuy with whoever you feel suits your price , IMO Bob is extremely good.

I'm not really planning on doing anymore performance mods(too chicken) but I've been told with the decat and a good tek3 I should get a reliable 280 geegees which will be enough for me.......for now

I'll try find the details of BR developments and give them a call.

Is the group buy still going ? I cant see it anywhere

Cheers

Phil, you've doen the breathe out mods with your exhaust, sort the induction side out (breathing in) as well before the remap, you'll get much better performance for your outlay. Options are APS CAI or green filter in your standard airbox. APS unit is good upto 400 hp ish. Log onto www.ECUTEK.com there must be dealers in or around our area. Avoid the postal stuff, better to get someone present who adjusts it to suit your car!

Thumbs up

Bob's company.

http://www.brdevelopments.com

If you get a choice of Bob's house or Brankos use Bob's, the roads around his house are awesome for mapping.

Thanks for all the replies.

I'll be in touch Zippy

Conrad.. I will be getting a new panel filter before the mapping,I'll come and see you if I need any parts , you must have more than KT Greens hope you get it sorted soon

Phil

Edited to add...I thought the CAI kits could cause engnes to run lean, unless this will be corrected at the mapping session

Phil, it would run lean with the CAI kit because you are getting more air in there. The remap will add the extra fuel. More air and more fuel, better breathing = more power = more fun.

Conrad

PS If you get the CAI kit, fit it just before the mapping then you wont have a problem. if you go for a panel filter instead go for the green item (TSL will sell you one mail order).

More Parts than KT Green ......lol Wish i'd never started!
