Its not om my car, but a friends WRX.
Its for the most part standard, APEXI filter, DeCat, downpipe..
The problem is, when boosting up, as soon as the boost comes in the engine seems to die, the revs drop and the car lurches forward, back off the throttle and its all fine again......

I used to have the same issues on my R5GTT but that was a saftey feature, caused by a drop in fuel pressure

any ideas, as this is quite an odd one

all the best

Could be the same thing; fuel-cut caused by too much boost. What boost level does it occur at, and what MY WRX?

Could fit a boost gauge to check.

Who's to say the previous owner never 'chipped it'

Had a problem similar to this, but dont know if the boost drop was so harsh, but turned out to be the MAf sensor, getting mixture setting wrong, thus weakening off the air/fuel ratio as the engine came up to boost. being as its such an easy "swop thing", might be worth trying.
