Question

New to this forum stuff so please excuse any idoit questions. Owned an impreza for 14 months now and have been told u cant do any diy stuff on them. Mine needs new rear discs can u change these without special tools? Also same question about my girlfreinds wrx import, front discs need doing, do u have to use special tools?

Can't do anything DIY? B*ll*cks! The Impreza is slightly more complex than your average FWD family shopper, but no problem to work on if you're generally competent. The one caveat as far as brakes (or anything else that directly affects your control of the car is concerned), is that you shouldn't attempt unless you genuinely do know what you're supposed to be doing.

Disc/pad changes are no problem, and no proprietary tools are required.

Well i used to be into 4x4 stuff in a big way (built my own land hybrid vehicle so i hope i am generally competent. I have read that that when u change the brake pads u can just compress the pistons and u dont have to wind them back with a special abs tool?
Does any body do a tech manual for the impreza ?
