Question

I currently have a dawes device fitted to my 97 uk turbo with peak boost just set below fuel cut 14psi. I also have a full decat system fitted i now want to raise the boost to say 16psi peak but will hit fuel cut so what is the easiest way to lift fuel cut to say 17psi. Also is this safe with a otherwise standard engine can the ecu and injectors cope with timming/fuel?. The car is always run on optmax/bp ult.
Cheers for any help.

im sure the car is still overfueled even its current state

Wink

I'm sure the guys on here will agree. Get yourself a knocklink and AFR meter first, then buy a fuel cut defender. Most places advertised on here do these bits

is there any other options then fitting extra gauges&Knocklink i just thought the standard ecu could handle a bit more than standard boost there must be a big safty margin built in to account for diffrent fuel types, quality. I dont want to run huge boost just a few more than standard.

Are you sure you will hit fuel cut at 16 psi? I have a MY97 and my fuel cut is around 17.something psi. I've run my Dawes at 16 psi since installation without the need for a FCD. A knocklink and AFR are just wise precautions. A standard MY97 ECU/fuel system should be able to cope with 16psi safely, but the extra monitoring will give peace of mind if for instance your fuel pump or injectors aren't giving 100% performance which could lead to lean running at the increased boost. How else will you tell things aren't safe?

Cube.

I have an MY97 with full decat, K&N induction kit, and dawes at 1.2bar, I have raised fuel cut to 1.32bar, My knocklink is always quiet (Optimax) and my AFR is always nice and rich under WOT.

DreXel - sorry to butt in - What device did you use to lift fuel cut - my 98UK is similar to your spec and I've left the dawes at about 1.1bar to avoid cut

Cheers,

Mark

PS _ I've an AFR and Knocklink - Dr J, I'd defo get these for peace of mind !

Mark: I used a Dawes fuel cut lifter. They are a bit tricky to set up, but they work well.
