Question

I had a new MAF sensor fitted to my MY99 last week and it seemed to cure the problem but I'm not sure it is 100% okay. Before the new MAF the car would just keep stalling when stationary unless you kept your foot on the accelerator. That problem is now cured.

What happens now is as follows:

Start car from cold and it idles at 1300rpm. Drives fine for next 2 minutes then starts to drop down to 500rpm and almost stall when coming to a stop at juctions. This lasts for the next 5 minutes or so, then when the engine has warmed up it idles at 800 rpm and shows no signs of stalling at junctions.

If I stop the engine, leave it for 10 minutes and then restart the engine it immediately has problems idling again (back down to 500 rpm) for the next minute or so.

Is it possible that the new MAF is faulty ? Or is it more likely that something else needs replacing ?

I will clean the Idle Speed Control Valve this weekend and see if that makes any difference. Otherwise I guess it will have to go back to the garage for them to have a look at (and for me to spend more money on )

I know this may be total rubbish, but would it make a difference if you reset the ecu.
