is the standard stiV fuel pump up to the results of a TEK3 remap, or is it likely to be struggling with an increase in boost?

If the car won't go over 330/340hp it should be fine.

Cheers,

George.

I've heard the recommendations now are to upgrade the fuel pump and regulator when getting the TEK3.

thanks guys, the prob is that my fuel pump is buzzing all the time (constant resonation that didnt happen B4 remap but happened shortly after) i am concerned that my fuel pressure is 2 low, is it poss that my regulator is knackered,or is the pump struggling to keep up with raised boost? you can actually hear it buzzing on turn over B4 its fired (even after initial pressure has built up), ive already talked to the mapper who informs me that if a go down the road oaf a walbro then he will have to have a look at the car again which being a good few hundred miles away is going to be a pain. thanks for any advice

The MY99's, and your's being a V5 is a MY99, didn't have the best fuel pump. The MY00's or V6's pump was better. Good idea to change it for safety. With the noise, I'd say it's about to let go.

Cheers,

George.

Question

Andy, still looking m8.
Would it be possible to check what the fuel pressure is now and then get a new pump (walbro) and regulator and set it at the same pressure ouput as the old one?
(this question is aimed at everyone for Andy)

The V5 pump should operate at the same pressure as the V6 one. The V6 ones were not faulty like the V5 ones were. Personally I'd get a Walbro and sleep easy. Mark from Lateral Peformance supplies these and will know the correct one for your car. Plus if you ever decide to do some extra mods, you'll already have the right pump. They are rated to 500hp.

Cheers,

George.

George, if i get a walbro, i will potentially have to travel back down to the mapper i used again, which at 400 miles round trip, its no fun, thanks for the info, i will plumb for a ver 6 pump for now,

Depending on price Andy it might be better getting a walbro and setting it to the same pressure output as a version 5/6, if you were to get the pressure regulator too that is.
