Question

Folks,

Can anyone tell what the little black box situated to the left of the boost solenoid in the pic below is (and what it does)? I think I managed to clear some sort of obstruction from it's pipework today after cleaning out my boost solenoid and all connecting pipework.

The car now doesn't seem to stutter/misfire/hold back under hard acceleration. I just have no idea what I did to cure the problem (assuming it wasn't the boost solenoid itself).

Thanks in advance for any advice,

Kevin

The little black box on the left of the photo is the MAP sensor (Manifold Absolute Pressure)

Question

ps, I have also noticed from the picture that just above and to the right of the boost solenoid there is a T-piece type connection, My car WRX (Nov '94) doesn't appear to have this.

Having recently had quite extensive work done by a garage who after my experience I now totally distrust, I'm a little concerned by the missing T-piece. Am I being paranoid, or could there be an issue? - certainly their attention to detail has been very poor.

Ta,

Kevin

Shouldn't those pipes on the boost solenoid (with red & balck wires in centre) be connected?

Sorry I can't be more helpful but the plumbing looks a lot different on an MY97.

dnb,

Cheers for that - may also clean the pipe to the manifold tomorrow

Nick,

the picture isn't from my car, just a thread i found to identify the MAP sensor. i don't think the pipes were connected at that time because the owner was demonstrating somehting - but yes, they should and are (on my car) connected.

Ta,

Kev

The tee piece takes a pipe down to the in line valve thing on the charcol canister. You probably have a tee somewhere else

the reason it isnt connected is because they have a power fc on the car thats what the other boost solenoid at the right of the pic (with red and black wire comeing out of it) is for
