Folks,
Can anyone tell what the little black box situated to the left of the boost solenoid in the pic below is (and what it does)? I think I managed to clear some sort of obstruction from it's pipework today after cleaning out my boost solenoid and all connecting pipework.
The car now doesn't seem to stutter/misfire/hold back under hard acceleration. I just have no idea what I did to cure the problem (assuming it wasn't the boost solenoid itself).

Thanks in advance for any advice,
Kevin

ps, I have also noticed from the picture that just above and to the right of the boost solenoid there is a T-piece type connection, My car WRX (Nov '94) doesn't appear to have this.
Having recently had quite extensive work done by a garage who after my experience I now totally distrust, I'm a little concerned by the missing T-piece. Am I being paranoid, or could there be an issue? - certainly their attention to detail has been very poor.
Ta,
Kevin

Shouldn't those pipes on the boost solenoid (with red & balck wires in centre) be connected?
Sorry I can't be more helpful but the plumbing looks a lot different on an MY97.

dnb,
Cheers for that - may also clean the pipe to the manifold tomorrow
Nick,
the picture isn't from my car, just a thread i found to identify the MAP sensor. i don't think the pipes were connected at that time because the owner was demonstrating somehting - but yes, they should and are (on my car) connected.
