Dave, Cusco do two types of rear strut. The one that requires drilling is an additional part. You do not have to drill the standard units, that tighten up the rear no end.

Question

Mornin' all,

Anybody got an MY'01 WRX with a rear strut brace? If so, which make/model of strut brace? And what do you reckon so far?

Alternatively, anybody recommended one?
I have the subaru(STi?) front strut brace and want to stiffen up the rear of the car.

Cheers, Alex

Alex

You don't need one!

The '01 shell is 250% stiffer than the old one, and has a solid rear bulkhead.

If, on the other hand, it's purely a cosmetic thang.....

Look on i-club for Cusco. Be warned, IIRC, you have to drill the boot floor to fit it.....

Dave - mate, you NEED to try the MY'01 with a front brace, it still makes quite a difference!

Yup, Danny, I just want the one that connects like the front brace, ie. no holes in the boot floor..

Can anyone recommend a supplier (website/phone no)?

Cheers,Alex

Due to the rear suspension geometery of the Subarus you will not get hardly any benifit if any from a rear strut brace.

You are best to spend the money on a uprated sway bar and or nolathane bush the rear end. Made a huge difference to one of my Subaru's which I circuit race.

Dan, sorry to disagree but when I fitted mine the rear of the scoob just got better. I was able to push it that bit further around the bends. And on track it was as tight as.... The only time I had issues was when I lifted off going round craners. Sorry Rob

Fishface old M8

It's for a MY01 - shell is 250% stiffer than your car, solid rear bulkhead, higher rear roll centre. It may make a noticeable difference on a <MY00 but doubtful on a MY01

Dave you old essex boy.....

I have been in the Evil motor, on track no less. He didnt have at the time the front strut brace fitted. His driving ability didnt change the fact that yes the shell is stronger, but changes like these still add yet more stiffness.

But then I only go by the the driving seat is telling my ar$e whats going on.
