Unhappy

Guess it's dead now. There's no CEL, but with it plugged in, there's hesitations galore (around 4000 rpm) and it's so lifeless below 5k.

With the lambda unplugged, it's like driving a different car! So much smoother and faster! (Still no CEL though ) Oh, and the fuel economy's much better too!!

Trouble is the MOT is next week, and the replacement probably won't be here before the weekend.

aparently these give different voltages than the stnd OEM sensor.
from what people ahve said on here, it will work, but if you've got one coming ....... hummm... difficult that one!

I'm not fitting a Halfords "special"...

However, the one I am fitting only costs a fraction more, and I'm told is guaranteed to give the right voltages.

Besides, Halfords on the IOW probably hasn't heard of oxygen sensors yet!!

New lambda sensor is now fitted.

It came from Autospares in Sutton, and cost £35.

So far everything seems to be OK - SelMon reports it's doing all it should, and the car performance is back to normal.

I am a little concerned, as the sensor looks a little noisy on the graph, however this could be a feature of the limited sample rate of SelMon. (Below the Nyquist rate )

Will know if the fuel economy problem is fixed by the end of the week.

In the end, I went for a 4 wire sensor instead of the usual 3. (The 4th wire is an earth, instead of the sensor earthing to the down pipe... It just meant adding another wire to my earth mod.) This is mainly due to knowing how flaky the car earths have been in the past!
