Question

My wheel well in the boot keeps filling up with water. Does anybody know where and how to start looking for leak??

Any help would be appreciated!

I was told by a top bloke that this could be down to the rear light clusters. The bonding agent seems to leak after a while.

I had the same problem and it was the light cluster seal. Undo the five screws (4 near the bulbs and one round the side) and take the cluster out (if its a 5 door). Clean off the sealant and replace. I used a tube a windscreen sealer - the whole tube. You either guess which one, or get inside while someone plays a hose over the car.

I had this on my my00 4dr, defo the n/s light cluster, well on mine anyway, getting in the boot to find out which one it is is easy, mind you, you'll feel a bit silly, you could always rig up a sprinkler, and then get in the boot through from the back seat, that way no-one need see you doing it.
I used a sealer that stays flexible.
Be careful getting the original cluster off, as the sealant that they use may not work, but it is VERY strong, you may feel like you're going to bend the foil( sorry, metal) that the cluster is bolted to. Oh, and they're nuts on the 4 dr.

Remove the side panels in the boot as well and check for dirty water traces from the suspension turret area.

IIRC it will probably be the cluster that was taken out to do the fog light conversion as I believe you have an import that was converted that way (although for me both were leaking!)

Also agree with Alan, water usually gets in the area underneath the jack, and the other side as well in my case.

Thanks for the info.

After a quick look it appears to be the light cluster that is leaking, will get to work on it this Saturday after I get my car back from from getting Godspeed brakes fitted!!

Thanks
Mark
