Unhappy

My drivers side electric window is currently making a horrible clonking/banging noise on the way down. This seems to occur once when the window is halfway down and again when the window is at the bottom. It also sometimes occurs if on the way down you press the switch in the opposite way to stop it.

Is it something I need to get sorted NOW to stop further damage or can I get them to fix it when it next goes in for a service?

Any idea what is causing this as if it is simple I am more than happy to fix it myself.

JoeyDeacon,

Mine has just started to do this as well on the passenger side. Not sure if it will cause any damage, but will get it looked at on the next service.

Mine's still covered by the warrenty, so not that bothered by it.

Does you glove box lid fit properly ? Mine doesn't.

Cool

babber,

Mine is also covered by the waranty so I am not too bothered about it at the moment. It's just with the hot weather and the amount of times a day I open/close the windows it tends to get annoying. The motor also seems to be making a straining noise occasionaly.

My glove box fits properly but I think you have the same feelings about Impreza interiors as I do. Even when the windows are working properly I can't believe how puny the motors are and how the window wobbles on it's way down.

My old Rover 220 Coupe also had pillarless doors and the windows were 100 times smoother than this.

JoeyDeacon,
please get this looked at asap as it could possible be the window regulator bolts working their way loose. If left the movement of the regulator can elongate the mounting holes in the inner door, causing large holes that need to be welded up or even the regulator to fall into the door cavity.

All the best

Andrew
