Unhappy

I have a cold start problem with my WRX, different to the one I had resolved 6 mths ago when I had the cam sensor replace. This time it seems like a battery problem won't turn over. It is only when I pump the accelerator it splutters and then fires up. I have had the battery checked out and it is fine. Any suggestions ?

The problem is almost certainly the water temp sensor.

Basically the ECU thinks the engine is warm so do not give ant cold start enrichment.

By pumping the throttle, the ecu adds fuel and it splutters into life.

About 60 quid to fix.

Question

Pete,

Our new P1 also has the starting problem occasionally. When ` warm ` ( left for ~ 10 minutes ) and also when cold ? - One more failure and it`s going back to the dealer.

Would however value your input for reference.

Cheers

If it the water temp sensor, this will show up on a Select Monitor test.

I had something very similar that turned out to be the throttle position sensor... sorted under warranty no problems.

Hope you get it sorted out, whatever it is.

Simon.
