When starting your car, don't press the accelerator until the engine has fired. If you do, then you can flood the engine, and it won't start for some time.
Sometimes, it seems like the engine won't start, so stop cranking after aboout 5 seconds, and sometimes the engine will "catch" as you release the key if you don't switch off the ignition. Two or three repeats of this process are usually enough for the engine to start.

I have too have a cold start problem, different to the one I had resolved 6 mths ago when I had the cam sensor replace. This time it seems like a battery problem, won't turn over. It is only when I pump the accelerator it splutters and then fires up. I have had the battery checked out and it is fine. Any suggestions ?
Also pumping the throttle while the car is starting is a surefire way of destroying any Cat fitted to the car by allowing neat fuel to flow through unburnt and attacking the precious metals in it ! (if you have any cats of course)
Some months ago my UK94 had a similar problem. If you stopped for fuel or something it just wouldn't fire for anywhere between 5 to 10 attempts. Got VERY irritating.
Turned out to be Crank sensor.
(oh yeah and some days it was just fine)
