What's this then (immobilizer cutting in)?

Approaching r/a power starts to fall off suddenly. Manage to crawl on for another quarter mile then the engine dies. Not petrol 'cos the tank is half full.Immobilizer is flashing. Turn key but no idiot lights so car won't start. Wait 10 minutes and it does but "check Engine" light is now flashing. Any ideas? Could the Clifford alarm be somehow responsible (I've disabled the interior alarm temporarily).
