Strange noise appeared on the car. Start up the engine and when idling a high pitched squeal or whistle is heard from the engine compartment varying in pitch. Does not happen every time but when it does appear it carries on until the car is stopped. Any ideas ??

possible an air leak in system inlet manifold leak or a pas or alternator problem

When listening to engine seems to come from the alternator. Time to get the mechanic to have a look.
