Unhappy

Just had my MY00 a year a few weeks ago and having washed the car yesterday, found the Prodrive spoiler to have a crack running down the back left edge from top to bottom. It rather nicely follows the contours of the spoiler. It has also started cracking down the front leading edge also.

Spoke with the dealer the other day and they say new spoiler needed but will have to be investigated by IM first.

Has anyone else seen this with Prodrive spoiler. My car has done 36k miles (mostly motorway), surely these things should cope with more than these stresses? I don't tend to drive everywhere a warp speed either... Honest!!

Cheers

Sounds like it was faulty to begin with to me...
no way that should happen
especially at 36k miles
Stick to your guns and demand a new one

Yeh, me thinks probably faulty to start with.

I didn't mention, when the car was new, I had to have it back for the spoiler resealing as there was water leaking into the boot. Don't know how this was done but I suspect it was taken off.

Question

How often do you use/slam your boot???

I used to have a Prodrive wing on my old UK MY97 and always cringed when shutting the boot with the amount of flex.

I now have an STI V which is not quite as bad.

Sorry for the delay in replying, been away from PC for a while...

DogDogMan... Don't think anyone has had a go at it, but who knows! I would have thought that if someone wanted it badly enough, they would have popped the boot lid open, which I am lead to believe is relatively easy to do.

Akira... Boot very rarely gets used, by me anyway, don't know about the missus. I definately don't slam as the boot locks shut with the slightest of downward pressure. I don't have the same cringe as you did when I shut the boot. Although, speaking of flexing, the thing does wobble around a bit at around 80mph on the motorway. Also, nasty bumps in the road must put pressure on it.

Still have not heard anything yet from the dealer. Hoping that they will have some more information when it goes for its next service on Tuesday.

Cheers
