Fluctuating boost

I have a 99my UK car.On full throttle it boosts at 1bar,yesterday while overtaking the boost went up to 1.2bar then dropped to 0.8bar then fluctuated gradually less before setteling at 1bar.
I slowed & accelerated a few times and it continued but only for a few miles then cured itself
Anybody got a clue,possibly sticking wastegate
