clutch pedal clicks then gives a little slip

Sounds like you could have a problem with the clutch master cylinder or slave cyl.
There is no cable its hydraulic!!
Maybe a bleed might help but check that the mounts for the cylinders are bolted up

I have a UK MY99 and had the same clicking noise put the car in for MOD said they fit re-enforcing plate in bulkhead ??

Have a look under the dash at the top of the clutch pedal. You will see a bolt that is used to adjust the free play in the pedal.
Try removing the slack and see if it helps. It stopped mine doing it ...
