Question

I have a UK MY00 with the standard alarm/immobiliser. Twice in the past month when parked in the same part of Burnley (within a few hundred metres) I have had the immobiliser go mad and not set or unset with the keyfob. The first time I couldn't get the override to work and was trailered to a dealer where as expected it worked fine! Second time I got the override to work and it's been OK since.

I've never had the problem anywhere else in 12 months and these are the only times I've ever parked in this area. Anybody else experienced similar or know what's going on?

Dave

Dave,

Fairly common when there's a large amount of RF interference - Check the site for radio masts and the like. I once got caught like this next to a lighthouse in France that was covered with radio/mobile phone masts.

Julian.

I had a similar thing with miy MY 99.

It turned out not to be the imobiliser - pilot error in my case.

Short version
Out xmas shopping with better half - bored, fiddled with the alarm plipper - kept pressing the button. Apparently if you do this more than 30 (i think) times with the plipper out of range from the car they go out of sync. I had to manually enter the code into the 'box' in the car to reset 'em.

DOH!

How stupid did i feel when the chap from Subaru Assistance came to recover my car.
