Does anyone know of a good mechanic/local garage with scooby experience in the Southampton area (Hants). The local Sparshats garage is to far out of town, tooooo expensive, and never seem to sort out any problems I have (I get better help from this forum).

Thumbs up

Regal Motorsport. I've taken my import there for a service, not much to look at but they have experience in Scooby's.
If you search the Scoobynet you should find a contact no.

If you need official stuff, don't go to Sparshats, I also live in Southampton, but always take my car to Mill Lane in Basingstoke. At least they seem to understand the concept of customer care!!!

I'm planning on having Regal do some stuff to my car real soon, I'll let you know how I get on.

Thanks for your suggestion Harry, I've booked the car into Regal for Monday morning, my engine has developed a sort of misfire that has seemed to elude everyone else and should test their metal.
I will tell you how I get on.

Alex

You'd best wear earplugs and a blind fold or Chris will have you modifying everything!
I know a few people who use Regal, including the owner of their Cavalier 4x4 turbo with NITROS! Good report from all of them.

I have taken my car back to Sparshatts for its last service and am due to take it down on Tuesday and as i live in South London it is quite a trek.As i bought the car albeit 2nd hand from Sparshatt's i feel if they try and charge me for broken mechanical bits i will get them to replace them for free.
For future services i might try Mill Lane if they are cheaper and a lot nearer for me.

Andy.

Cool

Quick up-date. Regal seemed OK, unfortunately they could not fix the problem, as usual the car behaved perfectly for them (why does this always happen??). Still they tried all day and did not charge anything, you can not realy ask more than that!

Hi Nigel

These are the symptoms:
- engine revs hang @2000 to 2500 and the drop v.slowly with the foot off the pedal. Makes it a bugger to drive smoothly as it can take sometimes 2-3 seconds to drop to tick over!
- more noticeable when engines cold, but can be extreme when hot, but irregular!
- slight reduction of power I think?
- reduction of 4 to 5 mpg - not good
Tried so far to fix it:
- Engine flush etc.
- New Fuel filter
- sprayed electrical connections in eng. comp’t
- changed spark plugs (to NGK platinum)
- reset ECU - cured problem short term, problem slowly returned
- No error codes have been logged with the ECU (?) - according to Regal

Any ideas or comments gratefully received
Alex
