Anyone fitted one of these? More Importantly, anyone taken one off?
I have a towbar on my MY00 and want it removed, got under the car at the weekend, but my backbox seems to be suspended from the v. large bracket.
On a car without a towbar - Is there a smaller bracket that the backbox connects to, which is replaced when a towbar is fitted? (its an OE exhaust)
And what should I be looking out for with regards to the wiring?

I fitted a second hand Subaru towbar and I seem to rember taking off the towing eyes and I think there was a bracket that held the exhaust. I have kept them in the garage so I can take the bar off when I sell the car. I could see if I can find bits and send you a photo if this helps? I also have the insturctions to fit a Brink bar (they make the OE one I think, or it is very similar) which details the parts to be removed.

Messiah,
From the Brink instructions, the exhaust mount is turned through 180 degrees and refitted. You will be missing the old towing eyes and a small support that holds the rear bumper at the bottom in the middle. I will send you a photo of the bits I have left and the instructions for fitting the bar. An alternate manufactures bar will have different fittings of course.

Try tracing the wiring uo into the car: mine is simply plugged into a special socket behind the o/s rear light, so unplugging would be easy. If it's been done with Scotchloks, I'd be inclined to EITHER clip off the new wire from each one, and tape up the scotchlok, OR, prise scotchlok apart, remove wire, and tape up where it cut the insulation of the OE wiring.

PS: if it's the plug-in type, keep it safe for sale: new they are £50 a set!!
