Question

I've read some info on Mobil 1, recommending Motorsport (15/50) as opposed to the 0/40 from Mobil.

Can anyone recommend either of the above for a WRX (not STI), or anything else?

Cheers

Red face

Normal Mobil 1 (0w40) is too thin for Scoobies (turbos) and is not recommended. Any fully synthetic oil with the correct rating will be ok. I use Silkolene, but others use Mobil 1 Motorsport.

Cool

Mobil 1 (motor sport) is the one.

used since the first service...by the way
this is not in the UK but half way around the world in ambient exceeding 45C during the Summer.

actually none of the above are recommended by FHI - handbook states quite clearly 10w-30 semi synthetic - if you have any kind of warranty then you might want to consider sticking to the manufacturer's guidelines.

conversely, I have never heard of any oil-related failures and there is certainly nothing wrong with mobil 1 motorsport - wouldn't use it in my car though as I don't believe in giving warranty companies any scope for wriggling out of a claim should this circumstance arise.

Cheers guys - not sure I'll have too much warranty to worry about, since it's an import (WRX).

When I find a dealer, I'll see what they say - I'd feel awkward telling the dealer to use a special oil for me.
