Can anyone tell me what the difference is between a 3 plug ECU and a 4 plug ECU on a 96 WRX?

In respect to what.
4 plug MY92 to MY96
3 plug MY97-MY98
Different 3 plug MY99 -
Bound to be slight overlap due to registration issues.

Thanks Bob. That answers my question. I believe that the new models come out in Japan late in the year. So most 96 cars will have a 4 plug ECU. Some late 96 cars might have a 3 plug ECU. Is this correct?

Careful cos I think they changed in October.
Could be either cos seat belts could have been manufactured well before the car.

And there's me thinking all along my car was called a MY96....but my seat belt label says it's a Sept 96...so I guess it's referenced as a MY97....
