Evo dump valve leaking at revs

Hi there.

I have a 95 WRX (PE1, Legalis exhaust, KN, Bailey Evo dump valve)

When in 4th or 5th gear around 3500rpm I can hear the dump valve venting air??

Obviously this is not correct as it should only do it on "lift off" but I can hear the hissing every time.

If I drop the revs down it's ok and if I take it up higher then it seems to calm down.

Is the dump valve faulty or is something else causing the problem.

I have noticed that the big HKS dump valves sit to the right of the intercooler.

What relevence does the location have?

Hi Mark,

See you've almost got it running properly again. I've got a Spec R dump valve fitted on the EVO now and the only time that makes any noise is when you start to come off the power. I guess it does anyway but all I can hear when accelerating is the induction kit.

Are you going to the Dorset meet? I think its on the 12th.

Yoh Liam,

Yep finally my car has a new engine (well almost new) and it is running so far quite well. (apart from the dump valve leaking...)

Now need to organise a trip back to PE for them to check the boost levels etc.

Just glad it's back on the road. Driving a 306 isn't quite the same.

I've not really been reading the bbs for the last few weeks so I'll look at the events section and find out more about the Dec meeting. Hopefully we will have a better turn out than the last two.

I'm not sure what to do about the dump valve as it's obviously not working correctly. I might give Bailey a call and ask them for some advice.

Mark,

It sounds like the spring maybe too weak for the boost you are running. Also, have you checked the hoses/clamps, to make sure they are secure.
