Interior boot release
#1
I've got a Silver MY99 turbo.
Recently noticed my interior boot release lever has stopped working. Boot opens fine with key.
The lever has no resistance (no re-assuring pressure at end of travel), and moves normal travel.
Anyone seen this before?
Any suggestions? (It'll just wait till next service otherwise)

I have the same problem on my WRX...even mamnged to lock the key sin the boot the other week!
I noticed that there is a switch on the boot catch which needs to be in the down position. Unfortunately mine seems to keep resetting itself to the up position, making the inetrnal boot release inoperative.
All I do now is every time I shut the boot I make sure the switch is in the down position!

HI
The function of that switch is to actually
cancel the interior boot release(in case someone breaks into the car so that access to the boot is denied to that someone).
How ever IF your impreza 4 door is equipped
with the split folding rear seat backs, then
that SOMEONE will access the boot and all it's contents easily.
Back to that switch,YES it sometimes moves
towards the (cancel) position which -off course- renders the interior release in operative.
I guess that this is one aspect of life with the impreza, just make sure that you DON'T lock
your keys inside the boot when you open it from the outside...
