Is it normal for the revs to drop by about .5K even when pushing hard on the accelerator, right after a gear change?? this usually happens between 3.5-4k. Or am I just being paranoid that the car isn't accelerating like I want it to!!!

Maybe you are mismatching the revs and slipping the clutch when going up a gear? Too much right-foot applied before the clutch is fully engaged could cause it to slip a little whilst equalising engine and drivetrain speeds.

actually this happens when my foot is right off the clutch...step on the accelerator, and for an instant the revs just drop, before whizzing up again..
