I HAVE MY97 TURBO AND 1st TO 2nd GEAR CHANGE WHEN COLD IS NOTCHY AS IF THE SYNCRO IS WORN BUT THE CAR HAS ONLY COVERD 14,000 MILES WITH FULL DEALER SERVICE HISTORY THE DEALER HAS ALREADY CHANGED THE GEARBOX OIL TO THE BETTER SPECIFACATION TO NO AVAIL ITS GOING BACK TO THE DEALER TODAY 07/06/99 TO TRY AGAIN THEY SEEM TO WANT TO TRY A CLUTCH AND FLYWHEEL REPLACEMENT HAS ANYONE ELSE HAD ANY PROBLEMS IN THIS AREA AND I WILL KEEP YOU INFORMED OF THE OUTCOME

I think they all do that to a greater or lesser extent (mine does). If it goes away when the car is warmed, then you aren't having a mechanical problem.

My dealer said a Subaru tech note suggested over filling the gearbox by 0.5L if it is notchy. I can't verify this as I haven't tried it.

ALEX THANKS FOR YOUR NOTE REF ABOVE MY CAR CAME BACK FROM THE SUBARU DEALER TODAY WITH A NEW CLUTCH KIT FITTED AND IN THE 60 MILES I HAVE DONE TODAY IT SEEMS ALOT SMOOTHER BUT ONLY TIME WILL TELL ROBERT.
