S02, --> noise ??
#1
I just wanted to order the Superb S02 in 17 inch, at my dealer.
And than he told me that this tyre makes a terrible noise when driving it.
He said that I better can take the Michelin Sport.
Is this TRUE ?

Hi Bluesteel,
It is not true!
He probably gets a better price, hence bigger profits..., for his Michelins! Never believe anybody recommending just one sort of whatever...
He should give you the advantages and disadvantages of a few tyres, and let you make your own choice! How he H*** does he know what you want out of a tyre?
Everlasting, 'sticky', design, 'water-resistance',price ...a.s.o.
Better yet, try them out, and then make a choice!
Ihis was probably not very helpfull, but at least, I tried

Sorry to disagree but also having changed to S-02s from P-Zeros they are a tad noisier but in a rumbling non intrusive way. Probably something to do with the chunkier tread blocks crashing down on the road surface. Or maybe not.
Avoid the Michelin Sport if possible - great in the dry but a bitch in wet conditions. I had a Clio Williams which slid and slipped like teflon in Scottish weather thanks to Michelin Pilots.
Having said that they have just introduced a new range of new (expensive) Pilot Sports with a v-shaped tread looking like a cross between Eagle F-1s and S-02s. Alas it is not available in a 215/40 17 size (45 being closest).
Bear in mind that with all things round and black your mileage may vary....
regards
Willie
