Has anyone used 95RON and SUL over a period of time and compared MPG? I've only had the car (MY99) a week and filled it twice on SUL, but the MPG seems rather good (27 & 26). The first was mainly town driving and the second was a long, high-speed thrash on B Roads. I filled with SUL, as previous threads suggested it made car smoother, but am beginning to think that if you get more to the gallon it could work out cheaper in the long run?

I have also wondered that SUL is more economical. I seem to always get that extra 15-20 miles a tank, and where I live it is only 2p a litre more, making it seem cheaper to run.
I havent noticed any performance improvment though, just a little smoother.

Having started a few threads and spent a long time on fuel economy I've decided that it is the turbo and acceleration that kills economy regardless of fuel.

£34 to fill up at 69.9p a litre = 48.6 litres.

48.6 litres = 10.7 gallons.

Motorway Driving at 60MPH
=========================
340/350 miles from a tank equates to 32MPG.

Motorway Driving at 80-95MPH
============================
250 miles on a tank which is 23MPG.

My experience of driving "round town" is that economy is dire !

Could be right about the turbo, Lee. I haven't done any long distance motorway driving and don't want to till I've fully run the car in. Most driving, apart from half a tank's serious fun on some country lanes has been around towns, where the turbo really doesn't come into play. What has impressed me is that the Scooby has returned 5MPG more than my Fiat Bravo 1.4 did, on virtually the same run, and overall mileage. In my experience, new cars, with tight engines, are usually gas guzzlers, but the Scooby seems to be better than I was led to believe. I'm not light-footed and don't usually get anywhere near manufactures' figures. Only mods to car are Ramair and Scoobysport back box. Possibly, the lovely exhaust noise is makong me drive more gently to hear it better?

I am getting 22mpg on sul. I think this is pretty reasonable considering that I drive my MY98 pretty hard. Performancewise I have noticed some difference and thats without resetting ecu etc.

HI

Let me see now 34 UK pounds gets about 48.6 litres -wow- of 98 unleaded......!

For the same amount you can get 338.5 LITRES
of 95 un leaded around here. GOOD GOD

you guys have the roads and more importantly
the kind of Summer weather we can only dream
about ,BUT when it comes to the stuff that
makes blasting down any road a reality
then -boy - are we lucky or what,still
nothing lasts for ever in this world of ours

so might as well ENJOY it while it lasts

JUST A THOUGHT
HAPPY MOTORING TO YOU ALL

I think the statistic is £8 out of £10 is just tax.

Petrol garages are not allowed to make money from petrol (this is why they are selling all sorts of crap these days).

Funnily enough the petrol providers complain that they get very little of the income. Still, they're hardly poor are they

When I get back from honeymoon I'll give the SUL a go over some long distances.
