The engine idle on my MY03 hangs at 1100-1200ropm and then slowly drfts back down to 750rpm over the period of about 5 to 8 seconds. On initial start up it's fine, but then goes into this routine every time you pull up at a junction, roundabout, etc.

It is PPP'd and the dealer has tried a standard ECU in it without any improvement.

Any ideas?

I was thinking it was a fault until i did this:

This 'Problem' occurs when pulling up to a stop (about 1000 rpm with me), but if you slip it into neutral as or just before you stop then the revs drop straight away. Therefore i think its a ECU feature (maybe to help changing gear?)

Sounds like an ECU thing to me as well. The 03my's have a lot of quirks set up within them. They are supposed to be set up to make the engine running as efficient as possible,even the alternator is set to basically "trickle charge" the battery when running and only covers other loads "when needed" so as to place as little load on the engine, thus giving performance,it even cuts the air conf off when giving anything above "normal throttle" openings!
