Hi all,

I've been reading the topics in this BBS for quite a while now and my question might been adressed before. In that case I've overlooked it....

So here's the question:
My neighbours are complaining about the sound of the Scoobysport exhaust when running the engine at idle because of turbo-cooling. I usually leave it running for about 3 minutes, not being bothered by the sound at all! (How do I do the smiley's?)
To solve this I'm driving the last 3 minutes to my home very gently, which means I don't exceed 3000 rpm or invoke the turbo at all (= only half throttle or less). By that time I can only guess that this will do for the required turbo-cooling.

I really would like to get your opinions on this......

Hi
I've been driving turbo cars for over 15 years. The main problem to watch when cooling the turbo is when you're on the Motorway & pull in to a service station - also another thing that no-one mentions is that it's good to get the temperature gauge off the bottom from cold before going on-boost. If you trickle your car home for the last few minutes it should be ok just for a 15-30sec idle.

I agree.

I drive steadily approaching home and while I am opening the car port doors, the engine temperature actually rises as the fans kick in within 20 seconds or so.

The cooling down period is more relevant if you have been absolutely caning it and then stop.
