Philips Radio 97MY
#1
Hello all,
Forgive me if this has been covered before (I've tried the search, but am probably looking under the wrong keywords etc...)
I've just bought a 97MY last friday, which is awesome in every way except that the Philips standard fitment radio seems to be hopeless. Is this a common (small, i know!) prob?
Is it the stereo itself, or that bit of coathanger I seem to have for an aerial!
Would fitting an aerial booster amp or something help, or should I junk the radio?
Thanks in advance,
Hubs

Try looking in the ICE section of the BBS as there is a massive list of not very impressed people with the standard fit Phillips unit. They are adequate for normal use, better if you change the speakers (apparently) or better again if you take it out and put something else in

Hubs,
If I were you, I`d consider junking the phillips unit, as the tuner does`nt pull in the signals too well, (especially not with the coat hanger!). Try a Pioneer or Kenwood unit, they seem to pull the signal in really well, even with the crap aerial. As for Ian`s comment about speakers, they are worth changing, the difference is incredible!
Hope thats of help,
Proby.
