i poasted a general topic on bad dealersand a chap called maf stated that he was having the same intermitant fault on his scooby 98, ie the heater blower fan comes on even if the key is out( not the engine cooling fan). has anyone else had this problem and been able to find a dealer who can fix it , as my wife keeps getting a flat battary as a consequence! however on good side is she has been using my car and i get the scooby , starting to like it ? may yet change ! if i get a good lincs south yorks dealer.

Havent had this problem, but i have noticed since i changed the radio head unit, that it stays on for 10 seconds after the ignition is switched off ??? This is a 99MY car, and has the factory alarm in it, i was wondering if it was related to that ???? Have you had an alarm put in your car, if so it may pay to check where the feeds were taken from ???

STEPHEN, its sounds like a sticking relay these relays can be checked by your dealer the workshop manual gives readings for the main fan relay and air con relay.as mentioned the alarm system ,if an alarm has been fitted and the installer gone into the wrong wire this could cause the problem,it may be worth showing your wife how to remove the fuse at least it will save the battery to get here home the fuse is marked for the heater blower on the inside of the fuse box lid.
good luck peter.

Surely an east way to stop the flat battery is just to make sure you set the fan speed to zero (i.e. off) whenever you leave the car. Easier than mucking about with fuses.

It only ever happened to me once by the way.
