Hello chaps,
Tomorrow I am having a Scoobysport exhaust & ramair fitted. However, I had a conversation with Graham Goode Racing this morning that may have convinced me that a back box and filter are not going to reap any more than a handful of BHP. I must admit that I was under the impression that by fitting these items I might get to about 230bhp.
I would really appreciate some comments please before I part with the best part of £400 out of my sky rocket.

Cheers
Benny

It's money well spend as I'm sure everyone who has gone down this route will testify.
If you want my advice, get the visa card out and get the cibie driving lamp kits as well.

Youre best course of action is to check the rolling road figures mentioned in previous threads, Adam has some at http://www.ifeng.demon.co.uk/scooby and Steve B has some on his web page, these give full figures in as uncomplicated a way as poss, normal scoobs on ramair and ss giving around the 240 bhp mark ???

My understanding of rolling road data tho' is that it is all relative and the same car can vary from day to day. Is this wrong then?

The rolling road figures i mentioned were all taken on the same day, same conditions within an hour or so of each other, so should be pretty consisitent, normally i would take them with a pinch of salt too if not on the same day.

Whether GGR are correct or not (I personally think they are being a little pessimistic), as you go about increasing the engines performance, a free-flow filter will ALWAYS be required and therefore you will have lost nothing by getting one. The only issue with a backbox is that you may at some later date replace it with a full system. Apart from that the same applies. Bigger step power improvements based on ECU/boost modifications, water injection etc all benefit from free-flow input and output.

We hope tomorrow to run a car and then fit the Scoobysports and Airfilter straight afterwards.

Pete doesnt sell this package as a major performance mod. My guess is 6-10bhp. It is the pickup that really changes though. I noticed it most when I refitted the original exhaust when selling the car.
