Hello all,

I own a '93 WRX and have noticed a few(!) noises since winter started.

1.Squealing noise from the clutch. Goes when the pedal is pressed, and sometimes after warming up.
2.Rattling noise at about 3500rpm.
3.Rattling noise upon lift off after hard accelerating.

I've read the FAQ, but it doesn't seem adequate, and would like any of those in the know to confirm, or suggest the likely causes.

Thanks in advance.

Sorry that the FAQ isn't adequate for you. There is only so much information you can fit into 59 pages!!!!

Have you actually checked that the noise isn't coming from the heat shield at the front right of the engine bay?

Your description sounds like it is this and your car is one of the one's that this fault happens on.

The squealing noise from the clutch could be the release bearing.

top tip - if you're getting the clutch plate changed then it's an idea to do the release bearing at the same time - they don't cost that much.
