Yesterday I removed, cleaned, regreased and replace my idle solenoid.
Today I did a diagnostic and reset to my ECU to see if anything was amiss.
When running fault code it flashed up 24, idle solenoid, so I reset the ecu and when it flashed a constant OK I took it for a spin.
It feels smoother to drive, slightly.
The grainy sound to the turbo at low boost appears to have dissappeared or at least considerably lessened, the idle seems a bit smoother so good news
I then checked for what ECU I had in (MY99), 801, which people seem to mention is a goodie isnt it?
I didnt think it was quite so necessary to loose all that blood on the razor sharpe fugging cover plate FFS!!!! but it went back on ok.
Todays plans are to have the intercooler off to check gearbox oil level and while its off straighten the fins before DIY waterspray
so, would cleaning the idle solenoid have made it register as a fault before reseting the ecu, so that it was correct after the reset and hence the car felt smoother?
long winded I know but its starting to get good, really good
