Help neded trying to date a pre 63 number plate..

Hi there,
Not sure i'm posting in the right place (but seems as good as any). I am trying to date a pre 63 number plate and wondered if anyone has come across a website with compiled data, access to DVLA data etc... that might help.
Post mid 50's and pre 63 had nnn-aaa where the last one or two letters stand for the registered county A for London, AA for Hampshire, AB for Worcestershire etc..
They then ran from 1-999 Axx, 1-999 Bxx etc. and when the ran out had an additional county code assigned.
I am after the first registered date of the HYK range around the 800's.
So a London registration, fairly late on but when???
