The ECU->Tacho signal (B135 pin 14?) would seem to be a good bet but be aware that the waveform is 0-12V so you will have to set the J4 jumper to COIL.
I haven't tried it with mine yet as I'm not installing it until I have the calibration software.
Also there has been quite a bit of traffic on the Yahoo mailgroup about deciphering the RPM data in the RS232 datastream.

Thanks,
I haven´t installed mine yet, becourse that They forgot to send the boschsensor with the kit..
I think i read that it´s already on the 0-12v jumper??
It just needs a new software ,and then it can log EGT....that will be great.
Thanks,
Skassa

Skassa,
You're right if you leave J4 unjumpered then it will default to COIL.
I bought the cheapo 057 sensor from 1st VW before they ran out!
I was really impressed with the TE kit, and it arrived 12 days after ordering!
