Oil leak
#1
I've done a search but not much luck.
I've got a leak which I think is the rear crankshaft oilseal, and its getting worse. I keep topping it up but the puddles I'm leaving when I park are a bit of an embarrasment. The seal I'm sure is peanuts but the labour bill I expect to be scarey.
Is it the sort of thing I could do myself, no warranty concerns here, and can anyone tell me how to do it or where to find out how to do it. The lack of a Haynes manual is a real pain.
What would it cost to have it done by a "proper man" ?
It would make sense to have the clutch done at the same time I suppose.

Changed mine when I changed the clutch http://www.scoobynet.co.uk/bbs/threa...hreadID=210552
You have to take the clutch off to get to the seal and the flywheel so you may as well change the clutch at the same time Borg and Beck is £85 for a clutch kit.. seal was about £12 iirc.
Worth changing the sprigot bearing too.. which subaru wanted £15 but bearing company charge £4.
Remove intercooler, air filter system, starter motor, drop the wishbone, undo wiring, other bolts, remove prop shaft, drop gearbox.. removed clutch, remove flywheel, pull out seal which was a real b1tch.. using a screw and screwdriver and pliers carefully not to damage faces on crank and engine case..
refit in reverse..
Having never changed a clutch before it took me about 16hours iirc..
If you want it done.. Rally Colin --> colin_minton@hotmail.com
was the cheapest quote I got.
