Guys (and gals)

Having just come home from sunning myself abroad, what do I find ,but my car covered in tree sap - and guess what, some of it has cracked the paintwork and in some cases is down to bare metal.

It looks bloody awful. The car was only parked under the tree for 4 days. I knew the paintwork could be quite thin but this is ridiculous. I'm going to try for a warranty claim but don't hold out much hope. The bonnet definately needs a respray, but other parts of the car seem ok.

Any comments on my chances?

p.s. I know what the warranty says about tree sap but in my view if you can't park your car for a few days without needing a respray, there's something wrong

That sounds really bad, I would not have even thought about it as a problem. As a good paint shop for their opinion on the damage (get it in writing if its in your favor) and try for a claim.

At least the rest of us now know not to park under trees leaking sap (what type of tree was it ?)

It was sap from almond nuts that did it. Beware !
