MY00 UK Turbo - buzzing rattling noise at approx 4000 rpm, gradually getting worse over the last few weeks especially when the engine is under load from accelerating.

Sounds like it is coming from the foot well or inside the dashboard in front of the passenger seat. It seems very difficult to locate exactly but is definately not anything loose inside the glove box etc Thought of exhaust heatshields under the car but the exhaust seems to run under the drivers side.

Probably a long shot but I'd love to know about anything worth checking to get rid of this thing

(Also, I know of and have fixed the break pipe/bulkhead rattle which appears on the other side of the car and this noise is not as harsh or powerful sounding as that was)

This sounds like the old chestnut - the turbo heatshield.

Try a search for more info but cheap and relatively easy to fix.

I'm getting the same - sounds like metal is being scraped, but only when the car is moving - at any speed - is this symptomatic of the heatshield?
