I have a decat full HKS Hiper system on MY93 WRX and have been playing with fitting and not fitting the bung for noise reasons.

Now apart from the obvious noise difference it feels like the car is quicker with the bung in !! I am running a MBC (11 psi) and an ITG Panel Filter but other than this no other mods.....any ideas guys whether this can be right. With the bung out the car feels as if it spools up slower - which I would have thought would be the opposite by allowing the exhaust to have no restriction i.e no Bung.

Anyone else experienced this ??

this could be caused by back pressure, the more pressure going through the turbo the quicker it will spool up, the ALS you find on rally cars works on a similiar basis, it uses gases from the exhaust and the turbo will spool up quicker,

My knowledge is pretty basic but I am sure that a turbo requires a free flowing exhaust to gain extra HP but if flows to freely it can have the opposite effect.

Just like on an NA engine.

don't take waht i have said as the bottom line because i may be incorrect
