What coolent ,idling problems

i own a 1995 wrx,i have recentley changed the radiator as it was leaking at the same time i added some halford coolent.
the car is runing very dodgey,if i am driving normaly at say 3000 rpm the rpm starts to go up and down and it feels as if the car is going to cut out ,it also idles unevenley
i was told it could be the coolent as it happend after i changed it
which coolent should i use
