Hiya guys n gals,
having a few problems at the moment. I have knackered rear wheel bearings and to cut a long story short am taking the hubs off myself and then taking them to get the bearings changed.
everything is dismantled now on the rear of the car. But i cant separate the drive shaft from the hub.
granted i only spent about 15 mins on this as it was going dark last night when i was doing it. But i cant think of a way to split the cv joint.
when i pulled the rubber boot back on the outer shaft, all i could get too was like a castlated nut which looked like it need a special tool to undo with. but i dont understand how to undo it.
Please help
car is my93
thanks in advance...

You don't need to split the CV joint!
The driveshaft and CV joints are one unit which comes out as one piece, thank you subaru.
IIRC, the hub is secured to the driveshaft by a nut in the centre of the wheelbearing... remove this nut (it should have a locking ring on and it should be very tight) and the hub should be able to slide off the driveshaft when you are ready to remove it.

Just to add, the nut "in the centre of the wheelbearing" is the nut you can see when you have taken the wheel off and look at the centre of the hub from the outside of the car, so to speak.
