You could probably get one for under £100. Loads of people have them in their attics.

How did it go?

Clean out the intercooler and try to get all the bits of compressor wheel you can if there are any. Change the oil and filter as well of course.

Bigger turbos do give more lag, no doubt about it.

TD05 is a good choice for 300-350 BHP (with supporting mods) - what it loses between 2 and 3000 RPM it more than makes up for after that (with supporting mods).

After heavy driving, i realised i was loosing power so i pulled over and the car felt like it was running on 3 pistons. It was also pouring out white smoke from turbo area and exhaust.I got it towed home and the mechanic said turbo had gone I have since talked to someone else who can match it he says for £400, is this to much ?

TD04 2nd hand £100 or so as John says.
New would be more, but make sure it's the right type! The new TD04s are different in some way (not sure if it's just the actuator set to a different point or it has a different compressor?).
Anyway. 2nd hand. Loads around as so many people change them

Picked mine up from in the for sale £80 recently. Had it checked over and pronounced as good as gold.
£400 starts to look a bit OTT doesn't it?
