MAF sensor questions......
Hi all, just want to confirm that all scooby turbos use the same MAF sensors...? ie: will the sensor from a MY96 fit my MY99 Sti5?
They do look a little different.... is that just the casing? If so, can I remove the sensor from the early casing and fit to mine?
Thanks in advance
Paul

It's more than just the different casing and plug. Some are hot film, some are hot wire.
Certain that an MY95/96 MAF sensor won't physically fit an MY99 car. Whether it's electrically compatible though is another issue. If it was, you could theoretically modify the inlet tract and connections to make it work, but that sounds like more trouble than it's worth, given that the proper MY99 spec part can be had for something like £70, and shouldn't break if not mistreated.

The part number for the 99/00 spec sensor element is 22794AA010, and yes, it should be available through any main dealer.
If the one you try tells you you can only buy the complete sensor assembly (everything inc the intake tube, and over £200), tell them to p*ss off and find another who won't rip you off.
Incidentally, if you buy the sensor on its own, you'll need to budget for a set of tamper-proof Torx screwdriver blades to swap it over. If you've got a 1/4" hex fitting electric screwdriver, you'll be able to get a set of bits from the likes of Maplin for less than a fiver.

greasemonkey, sorry for the delayed response.
